"The LisbonFlow sunset cruise was the absolute highlight of our trip! The catamaran was comfortable and spacious, and the crew made us feel so welcome. Watching the sun set behind the 25th of April Bridge with a glass of wine in hand was pure magic."

Emily Johnson (USA)

This sunset boat cruise was one of the best things we did in Lisbon. Everything felt relaxed and well organized, and the views of Belém and Alfama as the sun went down were absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended the river tour on the Tagus River.

Carlota (Portugal)

"A Must-Do Lisbon River Sunset Experience. The Lisbon sunset cruise was absolutely stunning. Sailing along the Tagus River while the sun goes down behind the bridge creates an unforgettable atmosphere. With a beverage in hand and great music, it was easily one of the top things to do in Lisbon at sunset".

Giacomo (Italy)

"Foi simplesmente espetacular o nosso passeio com a LisbonFlow! O pôr do sol visto do Tejo foi uma das imagens mais bonitas que já vi na vida. O barco é confortável e a tripulação muito profissional. Recomendamos a todos os que visitam Lisboa."

Frequently asked questions

Is the sunset boat tour in Lisbon worth it?

Yes, the sunset boat tour is absolutely worth it. As the sun goes down, Lisbon transforms and the sky fills with warm shades of orange, pink and gold. From the water you enjoy uninterrupted views of Alfama, Belém Tower, the Discoveries Monument, Jerónimos Monastery, MAAT and the 25 de Abril Bridge as they light up. The sunset cruise includes a welcome drink and music, and seating is limited for a relaxed, intimate vibe. Guests often call it the highlight of their trip, praising the spacious catamaran, friendly crew and the magic of watching the sun set behind the bridge with a glass in hand.

What time does the sunset cruise depart?

The departure time of the sunset cruise is aligned with the sunset. To ensure guests enjoy the golden hour, LisbonFlow adjusts the schedule to match the season and confirms the exact time when you book. In high summer, cruises typically leave around 6:30 pm for a 90‑minute sail, so you can watch the sun dip behind the 25 de Abril Bridge and capture golden‑hour photos. During winter, departures are earlier, normally at 16:15 to follow the sunset. You’ll receive the precise boarding time when you make your reservation.

What makes the sunset boat tour different from the daily river cruise?

The Sunset Boat Tour and the Daily River Cruise differ in schedule, atmosphere and focus:

Timing and atmosphere: The sunset tour is timed to coincide with Lisbon’s golden hour. It sails in the early evening so you can watch the city transform into warm shades of orange, pink and gold. The daily cruise runs in the morning and afternoon, offering daylight views and a more casual feel.

Audience and experience: The sunset cruise has a relaxed, romantic vibe with music on board and a complimentary welcome drink. The daily cruise is designed for families, solo travellers and first‑time visitors; it features live commentary from the crew and you can purchase drinks on board.

Focus: During the sunset cruise you’ll witness landmarks like the Alfama, one of Europe’s oldest neighborhoods, the Belém Tower, MAAT and the 25 de Abril Bridge bathed in twilight. The daily cruise focuses on panoramic sightseeing of Lisbon’s historic waterfront, providing context and stories about each monument.

In short, choose the Sunset Boat Tour if you want to experience Lisbon’s magic at dusk with a celebratory toast, and opt for the Daily River Cruise if you prefer a daytime excursion with informative commentary and the option to buy refreshments on board.

Is this sunset cruise suitable for couples or romantic experiences?

Yes. The LisbonFlow sunset cruise is designed to be a romantic experience. It runs during the “golden hour,” when Lisbon’s sky turns warm shades of orange, pink and gold, bathing landmarks like the village-like Alfama, one of Europe’s oldest neighborhoods, the 25 de Abril Bridge and Belém Tower in twilight. The boat itself is spacious and comfortable, the mood is relaxed and adults are the primary audience — families are welcome, but the vibe is especially ideal for couples seeking a romantic moment. Guests often describe it as the highlight of their trip and note how magical it is to watch the sun set over the river with a glass of wine in hand

Is the sunset boat tour suitable for children?

Yes. Families are very welcome on the sunset boat tour — children can join — but the cruise is designed with a relaxed, romantic vibe that’s especially ideal for adults. If you’re travelling with kids, they’ll still enjoy the views and calm atmosphere, but the experience is primarily tailored for couples and grown‑ups looking to enjoy Lisbon’s golden hour.

What’s included in the sunset boat cruise?

The sunset cruise package is simple and focused on enjoying the “golden hour.” When you book, you get:

  • A 1½‑hour scenic cruise timed to coincide with sunset, so you see Lisbon’s skyline transform as the light changes.
  • A welcome beverage to toast the experience.
On‑board music to set a relaxed, romantic mood.
  • Panoramic views of landmarks such as the village-like Alfama, one of Europe’s oldest neighborhoods, the Belém Tower, the Jerónimos Monastery and the 25 de Abril Bridge as the sun goes down.
  • There’s no Wi‑Fi on board; the focus is on disconnecting and taking in the scenery.

Will we see Lisbon’s main landmarks during the sunset cruise?

Yes. The sunset cruise follows the most scenic stretch of the Tagus River and glides past Lisbon’s main waterfront landmarks. You’ll see the village-like Alfama, one of Europe’s oldest neighborhoods, the 16th‑century Belém Tower glowing in the evening light, the monument to the Age of Discovery, the Jerónimos Monastery, the MAAT Museum, the 25 de Abril Bridge and the Praça do Comércio with the statue of King José I — all illuminated as the sun goes down.

Is it colder or windier during the sunset cruise?

The Tagus riveer can feel cooler and breezier during the sunset cruise as the sun goes down, so you may notice a drop in temperature compared with being on land. LisbonFlow recommends bringing a light jacket, especially between October and April. This is simply to ensure you stay comfortable if the breeze picks up during the 90‑minute cruise – most guests appreciate the extra layer as the evening air settles.

Is the sunset boat tour good for special occasions like anniversaries or proposals?

Absolutely. The sunset cruise is good and perfect for anniversaries, proposals or any romantic celebration: you’ll enjoy Lisbon’s golden hour with uninterrupted views of monuments like the village-like Alfama, one of Europe’s oldest neighborhoods, the 25 de Abril Bridge and Belém Tower. The catamaran is spacious and comfortable, and the relaxed atmosphere makes it easy to share an intimate moment — many couples call it the highlight of their trip.

These options let you book the entire catamaran and customise everything from the route to the music and catering. Can I book a private sunset cruise instead of a shared one?
